I teared a little when Matthew explained his struggles with fitting in. But Philip’s reply and counsel was wise and Kingdom-minded: good for you.
John 15:19 tells us that we do not belong to the world but Jesus has chosen us OUT of the world. I was also reminded of Hebrews 11 (MSG) which told of historical heroes of faith and how they lived “on the cruel edges of the world” and because of their life of active faith in the city with eternal foundations, they were “set above the crowd” and were outstanding in God’s eyes. The eyes of the Lord search the earth to strengthen those whose hearts are fully committed to Him; if we blended in so well with the world, we wouldn’t stand out to God👀
It’s definitely not easy to live on the edges of the world as we seem to be dependent on it for so many physical things. Gradually relying more on the Holy Spirit and living spirit-first would help us on this out-of-world journey 🧑🏼🚀
