Malacca Day 1

We reached Malacca at 2 after a long ass ride with no wifi (sad) and had lunch at a Nyonya restaurant. It was more like a coffee shop with a very plain and unattractive signboard and layout but these are the places with hidden gems. They only had two dishes left - mamak rojak and nyonya laksa which were fantastic. And then we had chendol and durian chendol which were also great. The owner was very friendly and was so excited when he saw our jerseys that he chatted with us for a while. He said that the World Cup was staged and scripted lol (probably cos England lost and he’s a fan whoops a bit of salt there (^◇^;)).

After lunch we took a walk to the Famosa fort ruins and Jonker Street where there were many themed trishaws blasting loud music waiting for hire and also a horse cart ride! Sadly there was no one manning the booth so we didn’t take the horse ride. As we walked, store owners and the trishaw people were like ‘neymar neymar wanna buy? wanna have a ride?’ Yes, we drew quite a bit of attention especially since my dad and I were wearing a highlighter yellow ¯\_(ツ).

For dinner, we stopped by the Mamee Cafe (yes it’s the blue thing with a red nose if you were wondering) and ordered mee goreng, beehoon soup and creamy tom yum (yum!).

Next we walked the entire Jonker Street from one end to the other before getting is tired we sat down and got a green tea latte drink.

We passed a getai where senior citizens had the opportunity to sing and dance. Two tourists enthusiastically went up on stage to dance with the auntie while the uncle was singing and it was a sight to behold (´▽`) Lastly, it was back to the hotel to catch World Cup! Thank you God for such a wonderful day and for watching over us! (´ε` )

Malacca Day 2

Today began with a breakfast buffet at the hotel cafeteria and crows as our audience.

Then we went to the Mamee Gallery (where we had dinner the day before) with an entrance fee of SGD1.60 and takes only about 10mins to finish touring. The gift shop had really affordable snack combos that came with a cute recycling bag.

We then toured Jonker Street again but could visit the shops better without the roadside stalls in the way. We found a really obscure but popular cafe called The Daily Fix that was at the back of a souvenir shop and had lunch there. It is considered kinda atas but still really affordable after conversion to SGD. We ordered sambal prawn pasta which was fantastic but super spicy, mushroom pesto pasta which was extremely tasty and a grilled chicken sandwich that had coffee mayo sauce and green apple slices. For drinks we ordered the signature salted gula melaka coffee and homemade iced tea which was actually passionfruit tea. Super recommend this cafeヽ(´o`;

Then we walked and walked a lot, shopping and recceing the place, and bought tickets for Ant Man and The Wasp ٩(˃̶͈̀௰˂̶͈́)و The adult tix is like cheaper than student tix in SG and there was a free gift- a limited edition coin!

For dinner, we tried the famous chicken rice ball which was honestly not that great imo o well... Then we were off to watch the movie. I said I would cry if the ant man drink cup ran out of stock and lo and behold it did ಥ_ಥ Anyways, the movie is totally underrated, it is superb ok thanks for coming to my ted talk. Woohoo another great day to thank God for!

Malacca Day 3

Today after breakfast we headed to the 3D illusion museum. We were the only customers so we had the whole museum to ourselves! The visit included an augmented reality segment where we went into a room and looked at ourselves in a huge screen. 3 videos were played - safari, arctic, and jurassic, and we could interact with the animals on the screen. It was fun and hilarious. They recorded the video for us, snapped some photos, and we bought the usb to keep the memories (^。^)

For lunch, we had noodles at a small eatery because the makko nyonya restaurant we intended to try out was closed. The noodles were great and the sea coconut longan drink was wonderful too!

We then shopped some more and I had a crisis as to which backpack I should buy but it’s all okay now :’)

We stopped for tea break at secret recipe and had Oreo cheesecake and shinjuku maple bake which was buttery and fluffy toast with 2 scoops of vanilla ice cream, whipped cream and maple syrup. Super tasty and super affordable (less than SGD10)! Like for the price of 2 desserts and 2 drinks here, you can probably only have 1 cake and drink in SG ( ̄∇ ̄) my parents want to migrate to Malacca alr (ー ー;)

After that, we went back to the hotel to unload our shopping and rest before having dinner at a porridge restaurant (thanks for the rec Mang Teng!) We got an outdoor seat under a tree as the indoor was full house. We ordered abalone and scallop porridge and kang kong and their signature chicken. Sadly we couldn’t appreciate the chicken. We had taken some of the last portions so many others who wanted to order that were met with disappointment. Also, 4 people went into the restaurant to tout and were allowed, from asking for donations, to selling lottery tickets, tapioca chips and drinks in soda bottles.

Finally, my dad couldn’t resist the durian so we had some. I’m not a durian fan so I’m just like ( ゜-゜) Thank God for yet another amazing day! ♡
